Booderee National Park
Hyams beach is situated close to Booderee National Park and Botanical Gardens. These two share one park entry fee. It is a protected area with native forests, reptiles, marine life, and birds. There are pristine beaches where you can fish, picnic, swim, or camp overnight. These are some of the most secluded beaches in Australia, with the cleanest water and sand.

There are over 200 species of birds at the park. They include sea birds like the black-browned albatross and the sooty oystercatcher. Fresh water birds can be spotted at Steamers Beach, such as the Pacific black duck and the black swan. There are also many heath birds, forest birds, and night birds as well.
Camping: Booderee has immensely popular camping sites due to its natural beauty and breathtaking scenery. Camping areas within the park include Bristol Point, Cave Beach, and Green Patch. These have amenities like hot and cold showers, toilets, and sheltered barbeque areas. Some sites are drive-in, and can accommodate camper trailers and caravans.
Walks: Booderee has excellent trails with beautiful vistas. Take the two-and-a-half-hour walk through the 5.4km Munyunga Waraga Dhugan loop walk. You will see penguins, dolphins, and seals, among other wildlife. Murrays, Cave, Bhewerre, and Steamers beaches all have great trails for walking.

Jervis Bay Marine Park
Covering more than 22,000 hectares and 100km of coastline, this marine conservation area is one of Australia’s best sport fishing grounds. Activities in Jervis Bay Marine Park include:

Fishing: This is a big draw for most visitors to the park. You will need a recreational fishing licence, unless you use a licensed fishing charter. Fish species include marlin, mackerel, pilchards, tuna, snapper, and kingfish. You can also find plenty of whiting, crab, and bream in the estuaries. Land based fishing is popular, so you won’t need a boat to catch dinner.
Diving: There is scuba diving for all skill levels, including beginners. The clear waters offer amazing diving opportunities, where you can encounter sharks and other wildlife. Explore the rich history of Jervis Bay from underwater, especially the wrecks at the bottom of the sea.
Water sports: There are a lot of fun activities in the sea and around the beach. They include snorkelling, kayaking, wind surfing, stand up paddling, and kite surfing. The South Coast is a surfer’s paradise, with surfing schools to ensure everyone gets to ride the waves.
Whale watching: The Bay is the perfect location to watch the world’s largest animal. Humpback and Southern right whales can be sighted off the coast in June and July, during the whale migration. Biking: This is a great way to experience the wonderful bushland, sandy beaches, and views of the sea. You can hire different types of bikes including mountain bikes, tandems, and beach cruisers. There are many cycle ways and trails within Booderee, including at Caves Beach, Bhewerre Beach, and the Botanical Gardens.
Bay and Basin Leisure Centre: This is the ideal place for the whole family to have fun. There is a fully equipped gym, a spa, a 40 meter water slide, and 4 heated pools. Food and snacks are also available.
